I still can’t quite believe it…

Wow, it’s been a while… I’ve been super busy with art school, I’m now halfway through the third and last year of my degree, and we just had the end of semester show. Continue reading

This new thing I’m writing

I started yet another new story (or 3)… This one features a couple a lot older than my usual characters, they’re in their 60s and meet on a plane. I wrote some detailed notes and characters profiles and I hope I can see it through.

Last week Emma and I went to a ‘Writing Elegant Erotica’ workshop and the lady running the workshop made us do a writing exercise that sparked 1000 odd words. I may write more. It’s a second chance story.

RL is kicking me in the teeth, essays and annotated bibliography sparking meltdowns. Not seeing how I’ll survive year 3 of my studies at this point.

In better news, I have a new favourite author, Stefanie London. Loved her DARE book, Unmasked and the free short-ish story she published for free on the Harlequin website. I also just read her novella “Loving the Odds” and I’m hooked. And we started watching Mayans M.C. and phoar! hello sexy man!

Updatey thing

Hello *waves*

I started back at art school and we have to pack because we’re moving in two weeks so things are getting a bit hectic.

I’m part way through the new (possibly last) chapter of Selina and Donovan, and going well with part 4 of my collaboration story with all the babies.

I will post part 3 (when Wade finds out) soon I think.

Sad anniversary + update

Ten years is a long time.

And yet, sometimes, it feels like it was just yesterday that I lost my baby girl.

While she was actually born on 17th August, the 16th is often the worst day for me.

It happened that way this year. The sun shining helped with my atrocious mood, as did having lunch with my wife. ❤

A very dear friend came over this afternoon and gave me this wonderful, beautiful, thoughtful present she made.

I am working on the last chapter of Selina and Donovan’s story, slowly, as the last few chapters were rather draining. I’m also 4500 words into something new, a collaboration of sorts with my wife on a thing she’s writing (she’s writing about one character and I’ve started writing about another one from the same story). It’s very exciting.

That writing bug is catching

Miss Nearly 12 has started writing a story.

She’s writing it on WattPad. She wrote a whole page on her phone and was so proud of herself for the 80 something words until she looked at her chapter on the laptop and went, ‘Oh…’

So yesterday she sat at the table and typed. And typed. And typed.

700+ words later, she has a decent chapter, a hook at the end and the beginnings of a story.

I am very proud of her efforts and I can’t wait to read more of the story.

Here is it, if you want to read it.

Lara Evers and Beck Matthews have been enemies for as long as they can remember. But what will happen when Lara finds out Beck’s biggest secret?

Evers vs Matthews ch1

My mum arrived today. Hadn’t seen her in two years. She’s here until the end of January.

We took the kids out of school at lunchtime and drove an hour to pick her up from the airport.

On Thursday she goes to the Coromandel with my kids and my ex husband.

On Saturday my wife, her daughters and I fly to Christchurch to spend Christmas with her parents.

I’ve been writing, started a new story, once again.

Maybe one day I’ll finish one of them…
